Can I use washing up liquid in our taste panel room?
Dear All,
I want to use washing up liquid in our taste panel room to clean microwave oven etc after warming up food for taste panel. We are BRC A grade and manufacturer of chilled ready meals. Taste panel room is in the low risk area( where meals come after packing-ready for dispatch).
Apart from having COSHH for washing up liquid do i need to have a procedure if i want to use it?
e.g approval from technical etc.
Thanks in advance for you help.
Martin
Dear MartinBlue,
I assume yr washing-up liquid is approved for food utensil cleaning applications.
I assume no relevant statutory / certificatory requirements exist at yr location.
The generic answer is for an appropriate "someone" to do a risk assessment, eg what interaction is possible between yr testing activity and yr manufactured product ?
Just as an unrelated example, this is one reason why in some locations it is not acceptable to operate micro.labs within the "proximity" of a food manufacturing establishment.

Thanks Charles.C,
Really appreciate your guidance.

Just make sure you have it on your cleaning chemical register and you have the MSDS for it.

Can you get unscented washing up liquid, if it's a risk. :dunno;
