Metal Detector & Checkweigher Servicing & Calibration

Like most companies we have always used external contractors usually from the equipment manufacturer to service and check our metal detectors and checkweighing equipment.  We have never had the experts in house to do this.

We now have an engineer who has previous experience with these equipment manufacturers and are looking to carry out the task in house.

Can anyone advise if they can see any problems with this.  The engineer will be using the correct methods and equipment to carry out the task.  Is it ok for him to issue a certificate in the same way an external company would.  Our company works to BRC v 6 Food safety.

Any advice appreciated.

Most of the external auditing agencies and customers do not accept this. They need your devices to be calibrated by external agencies once a while.

Most auditors whether it is third party or a customer will want to see external verification of the equipment.
