Hello there, Please I have a master project in food science and technology! I am thinking about a topic related to food microbiology, but I am confused and I don't know exactly what food or what type of microbe on which my project will be based. Can you please help me in some suggestions.

Dear Ranime Nafeh,

What do you consider yr country's most important food product, eg for export ? or Import ? or consumption ?

Dear Charles.C,

In or country, we import alot! But I am concerned about a food product consumed in my country either fruits, dairy, meat or fish..concerned about microbiological study of a serious pathogen in food...

regards

Ranime Nafeh

Welcome to the forums Ranime I see this is your first post.

A quick search online shows me that Lebanon imports bovines (cows) and bovine meat heavily (9th and 10th place in order of dollar transaction):

community_106.png 0102 Bovines $132,745,347 1.03% community_106.png 0201 Bovine meat $112,907,140

0.88%

0.68%

Seeing as, if this website is correct, your major food import is cows/cow meat you could do a paper on foodborne illness from improperly manufactured meat or tainted meat (mad cow disease which I just learned online isn't from a microbe but a misfolded protein... possibly... but that would still be microbiology).  You could research food illnesses in your country due to beef and find out what countries the beef came from.

Fresh cheese was next on the list, from what I saw, and so on.  You can look at water activity in different foods as it relates to the presence of bacteria or it being the environment for bacteria to grow and proliferate.

Honestly you should choose something you know enough about to get started and know what direction to take.  Otherwise throw a bunch of microbe names in the air and the one that goes the furthest could be your choice :doctor:

Dear Ranime Nafeh,

The previous post illustrates the intention behind my previous query, ie relevance to yr specific situation, not simply a random selection.

And particularly if you are required to seek funding.

Hi Ranime,

How about looking at distribution and control of Listeria species in a factory environment?

Regards,

Tony
