Is it possible to dedicate and certify part of a plant to SQF?

We have a large printing area and want to segregate 3 presses in a closed off room and dedicate them to food packaging SQF Level 1.

Will we be able to certify that segregated press room if we have all the requirements for Mod 2 and 13 completed-without having to put the program in our other press areas?

I guess the answer is YES as long as you define clearly what is the scope of your certification.

It presumably depends on how SQF interpret the/your requirements for "segregation".

You can do an "exclusion."  You'll need to contact your CB and let them know that you intend to exempt sections from your scope of certification. They need to know about this ahead of time, not when the Auditor walks in the door.  Keep in mind that all areas (regardless of what you exclude) are still open to inspection by the SQF Auditor during your certification audit site visit.

SQF is getting stricter about this and you will have to contact your CB prior to the audit but then you will not be able to advertise that these separate lines are SQF.  Glenn is correct, all areas of the site are now going to be inspected according to version 7.1, so you should be prepared for this.  These outside areas may not have to meet SQF specs but notes will be taken by the auditor if they question anything.
