What changes brings EU 1169/2011 to Packaging for Food Stuff Supplier?

HI All,

Food business operators must update all packaging to reflect the new labeling guidelines to be compliant with the Food Information to Consumers (FIC) Regulation (EU) No. 1169/2011 before 13 December 2014.

We are Packaging Supplier for Food stuffs, but we dont pack any food by our selves, we only produce the packaging.

I am trying to find out should we change anything in our processes regarding new regulation 1169/2011? Should we state that we do not put intentionally any allergens in our product? Should we ask the same statement from our materials Supplier?

Thanks,

Jurate

Dear Jurate,

Not my area but I do recall there are a few threads (well at least 2) related to this query here already (somewhere). May be worth a  little searching while you wait.......

hi,

if your supplier is informing you about the ingredients then it is only the artwork on your packaging that you need to ensure follows the regs. if the supplier of the food items signs off the artwork then that would be your double check too as ultimately if they are responsible for the product then it is their responsibility to ensure it is correct.

thanks
