Tag your equipment with QR codes to find them faster

Hi guys,

We've introduced support for QR codes in the software. Here's a full blog post about it.

Our first implementation of barcoding can be found in the Items of Equipment module. With just one click you can now print off a perfectly formatted Avery template of labels for each Item of Equipment in your facility. The label will contain the Item Name, Location and Serial Number as well as the all-important barcode.

You can then stick the label in the equipment. When you scan the QR code you'll be taken to the correct place in the software, allowing you to review all the related records. It simply makes you finding your equipment in the software so much faster.

We've also thought about implementing barcode support for CCP's. The idea is that when you're at the production floor you can just scan the code, and be sent to the relevant CCP in the software to complete a monitoring record or review related information.

Can you come up with some other useful applications for printing out QR codes, and using them as shortcuts to pages or tasks in the software?

Lassi
