Consultant's scope of services
Hi all,
We are planning to get a qualified FSMS consultant to look into our manufacturing process. We were audited by our client of our product and we had 7 majors on our HACCP Plan and plenty of minors in our PRPs after the audit. We do not have plans to be certified by any certifying bodies, we just want to comply with the requirements (FSMS) set by our client.
In this regard, what should be the scope of services that we need from a consultant?
Your help is very much appreciated.
Thanks

Scope depends on what you're willing to pay. The consult will draft a contract with a price and scope will be included in their proposal for the project. You probably need to start with having someone to review your HACCP plan. Basically, any finding you don't understand, you can pay an expert to consult on. With 7 majors you probably are better off investing in HACCP training for your QA team.
Dear chebar,
we just want to comply with the requirements (FSMS) set by our client
So, in the context of Tony's post, what are the requirements ?. This is the scope you mentioned.
I would imagine any potential consultant will have an identical query.
( I predict that most ad hoc FSMS systems are based on elements from ISO9000 series and HACCP-Codex or HACCP-NACMCF or simply borrowed/extracted from other official standards such as BRC. Local regulatory products can be more creative but the variations would presumably be well-known to local consultants)
