Movie that makes you Cry!
Do you cry when you chop onions? That happens to most people but which movie makes you cry?
For me Sophie's Choice does it every time
What about you?
Big Fish (Tim Burton)
Up
Toy Story 3
Jeez, I'm weepy now!
not a film ..but saturday mornings watching" little house on the prairie" ...boo hoo ......especially when mary went blind ...nellie olsen was such a litlle b***h! :giggle:
Beaches with Bette Midler
Sophie's Choice is a tear jerker as is Beaches.....so is
Saving Private Ryan
Phenomena with John Travolta
War Horse
So many choices and know I missed some good ones.
Mmmm, irrelevant media lists to pull recommendations from - and I'm drunk! This > HACCP diagram ! :D
Holy crap, Beaches makes me bawl. Any circumstances.
- Choice episodes of Futurama ( the bee sting episode, the luck of the fryish, Jurassic Bark, that one where we learn about Bender's birth)
- Choice episodes of Freaks and Geeks
- that "of the dead" remake from the mall where the one guy is trapped in the other building. The DVDs have his diary and it's sad. Only death in a zombie film that has made me cry. Though the pet zombie dying in the military one from the 80s was pretty sad.
- Cry Baby (Not really, it's a fun filed musical!)
- Jesus' Son - but I read it first, so that makes it better, because I was reading all kinds of emotions into it
- Ginger Snaps
- Sweeney Todd
- Pan's Labyrinth
- The Thing (ya really can't get anymore :bird: than the end of that, right?)
The night my first cat (RIP Melvin, best cat that has lived and shall live ever) died, my parents had another family over & we watched "Angels in the Outfield" and I remember sobbing & breaking down hardcore...my parents friends were like "What's wrong with her?" so I screamed "MELVIN IS AN ANGEL NOW". I could probably watch it without crying now though.
Age or Situation Conditional Movies -
- that McCully Culkin movie where he's the perfect boyfriend and then suddenly dies
- 10 things I hate about you
- Sid & Nancy
- Frankenweenie
To Kill a Mockingbird
Reminds me that we haven't moved on in 50 years and that we're still bigots and racists!

Dear All,
IMEX, it’s mainly scenes rather than movies.
I took the liberty of expanding the OP to include tear(s) of joy.
This is a slightly biased list due my avoidance of most movies of last 10-15 years due repeated disappointments, eg Avatar (fell asleep after finishing hamburger), Bond etc. Bourne No.1(2002) was a rare exception.
Sadness Category
My Girl (as above-Macauley Culkin)
Greengage Summer (from memory)
Remains of the Day
Terms of Endearment
Happiness Category
Shakespeare in Love (notably the Middle)
Sense and Sensibility (notably the End)
Pride and Prejudice (TV Movie, everywhere)
Bridges Of Madison County
Forrest Gump

We are going on holiday in a few day's and the place is a little isolated, but it does have a DVD player, so we've got a few family movies including some oldies to relax with at the end of the day.
- Lassie
- Old Yeller
- Black Stallion
Movies + animals = tears :crybaby:
We also have some family classics...Herbie, ET, Chicken Run
and some new ones...Lone Ranger, The Hobbit...
We don't normally watch movies as a family, so looking forward to it.

Surely you have Bambi ? Right up there with Old Yeller from memory of DTJs (designated tear-jerkers  )

PS - added - just discovered that the grim bits in B-i were apparently removed from later pressings. Maybe the same for all the old Masters.
PPS - latest dvds have seemingly restored the DTJ status. New Generation. ?
Titanic does it for me as well

I can't think of specific movies but when I see really heart wrenching clips of military people coming home and surprising their families... I've lived it and they really get to me.

What sets me off is the scene in Titanic when the mother in 3rd class is telling her child to close his eyes and think about Tír na nÓg... That BASTARD Cameron!
Am I the only one that cries over inspirational sports stories? Rudy, Invictus, the Rocky series? Get me just about every time.

Remember the titans when the kid gets beat up and when the team starts taking care of each other across the racial divide if I remember right... but not normally for me.

Good one!

Going to isolated place with movies to make the kids cry......is counseling part of your benefits. :crying: Seriously though they are good movies, but Old Yeller was so sad I haven't watched it again.
I love Chicken Run and the Wallace and Gromit movies!! :roflmao: :rofl2:

While not into Rocky, I loved Rudy and love and cry over the inspirational movies.
As a guy I am not ashamed to admit that this movie makes me tear up and cry like a baby. The type of loyalty Hachi shows is incredible and the type of relationship he has with the Professor is touching.
Ok first off I don't know how Setanta can have a picture of Nala and not mention "The Lion King". When Mufasa dies and Simba tells him "Dad, Dad come on. You gotta get up. We gotta go Home.", Come on!!! Who can withhold tears, You're Not Human!!!
Other movies worth mentioning in no particular order:
-Life is Beautiful (1997) "La vita è bella"
-Instructions Not Included (2013) "No se Aceptan Devoluciones"
-Marley & Me (You want to talk about animals and not mention this movie!!!)
-Sleepless in Seattle
-The Boy in the Striped Pajamas
-Ghost (Classic)
-The Notebook
-The Pursuit of Happyness (That part where he locks himself in the restroom with his son and someone is trying to come in)
-Armageddon (I think I'm in trouble when I lose my dad)
-Seven Pounds
-Steel Magnolias (Funny thing is I never saw this movie until I saw that WAMU commercial of Tom the straight shooter saying "Have you guys seen Steel Magnolias? I was bawling!" so sad)
The end of Gladiator. Every time.
Thanks for recognizing the profile pic, RG3! Oh The Lion King is on my list! <sniff!>
