Audit Requirement about Training SOP Question

Hi guys, I have a question about a recent audit we had and I am hoping you can help me with it. We have our own annual HACCP /Food Safety training I conduct every year, usaully around Aug-September. I don't have a Training SOP per say, however. I do keep an Employee Training binder containing our training matrix, with all the course information, date trained, position, who has to have what training, employee name, etc. Sign in sheets, Training Agenda, and all the information that was thought in the class, which is about an 8 hour class, consisting of multiple presentations, movies, puzzles, quizzes and tests the employees have taken. The auditor asked me where my Training SOP was and I didn't have eany becasue over the last 7 audits we have never had to have one before. We did have a newer audit this year, than the last 7 because of the FSMA rules, but I didn't notice it stating we had to have a written Training SOP.

"Programs are in place to ensure that all food related employees (including part-time, newly hired and temporary employees) are receiving food safety training.

The training needs to be documented and should include........"

Am I reading this wrong, or is this saying that I need to have a Training SOP and that what information I have is not good enough for the auditor. She scored us a 10 out of 15 points.

If I need a Training SOP? Does anyone have a template I could use? I would really appreciate it!

Thank you for your help!

Badolan it would help us to know what type of audit you had when this took place.  There may be a difference between different auditing companies like silkier, cook and Thurber, AIB, GFSI scheme, etc

.

I would think that you could write up what you are doing--much like you did for us--call it annual HACCP training and be done with your SOP.

Sorry, it was an Randolph Audit GMP, Food Safety Audit for HACCP. We used to have the Randolph Audit, Food Safety Systems and Sanitation Audit for 7 years, but they changed due to the new FSMA rules!

Well I would just write up a procedure based on how your company has it's other procedures.  I would try to list the order of topics to be covered but try to keep the exact information vague so that you aren't listing exact powerpoints or videos so you don't have to change it every time you do it if you change the material.  Have materials required - quiz, pens,  and whatever you are using for your training.

Every company has a different format for their procedures, policies, etc so I can't really tell you what it could look like but that's what I would put in it.
