Comedy Artists

In the USA as well.
It's obviously going to be a short topic.
But I do like your avatar, neat dragon.

In the comedy artist vein, this Friday a portrait of George Carlin will be displayed in the Smithsonian's Recognize section of their National Portrait Gallery. Details in this article:

George Carlin was a unique talent, he tried to point out the absurdities in modern civilization. Part comedy, part social commentary. If you have not listened to any of this routines, you should, but be aware that his language was often as profane as his insights were profound.

I don't know a huge lot about GC, but I know he's on the other end of the spectrum to Rowan Atkinson.
In management review meetings I always liked to do something different and interactive, powerpoints often had sound, voice and lot's of images between the graphs. On the front slide one time I had the words "Management Review Meeting" appearing from the bottom very slowly whilst George Carlin said "you know...trivial ####, the kind of stuff you're not even remotely interested in". In the end I bottled it and went for something less provocative.
You should have gone with it Simon.... I might do that for the next Quality Meeting... might liven it up a bit!!
Gabriel Iglesias.....I am not fat--I'm fluffy. It's hysterical!
I grew up watching some of the greats. I still love to watch some Victor Borge routines, partly because I played the piano for many years.

Kyle Kinane is pretty good.
Patton Oswalt is always worth the time.
If you like drunk cynics, Doug Stanhope might be your cup of tea.
Note: none of these are suitable for listening to while sitting at your desk.
Hands down George Carlin is one of he all time greats! Lots of material available on YouTube. A real nice mix of Politically / Religiously charged humor and complete silliness. I'm still waiting for the "all suicide channel" to become a reality.
Rest In Peace George. We'll never see one like you again...

Yes, I always liked his lists of oxymorons. So what IS a jumbo shrimp? A big Little, or a little Big? The closest to him is Gallagher, who also pointed out the absurdity in modern culture. But..he did something that George never did, and that's use the Sledge-O-Matic to smash watermelons. It's particularly funny to me, because I remember the Ronco Veg-O-Matic commercials that his patter is based on.
