Caliper Calibration

We use calipers to measure composite can height and width. This is not a CCP. Could I calibrate them myself with gage blocks and that would suffice for audit purposes? It is an internal quality check that we conduct.

Any insight is greatly appreciated.

Hi Brian,

I don't see why this would be a problem, are the gage blocks stamped and certified?

Hi Tony,

Yes, they are stamped and certified.

Hi Tony,

Yes, they are stamped and certified.

I don't see a problem Brian, an auditor may ask how often you get them certified if not recent.

My thought is to have it done annually. That is the recommendation from a friend of mine that is in the metal industry and uses calipers/micrometers on a regular basis. He said his guys use the gage blocks weekly as a check.

Thank you for your insight!

No problem Brian, I'm sure you will be fine with that and then regular checks on your calipers.
