Global Food Safety Certificates Register?
I was hoping I could get some opinions on whether there are any existing registers, or plans to implement a global register of Supplier Food Safety Certificates.
All food companies are wasting resources, by duplicating efforts to continually find and update current Food Safety Certificates from their Suppliers.
And if a Food Ingredient manufacturer (like the company I work for), then continually updating our customers.
Many suppliers add these certificates to their company websites, however this still requires lots of maintenance to find the right web address..
Also BRC & SQF (and others....) have their registers (though without the actual certificates).
Though there is a proliferation of many types & levels of Food Safety Certs being offered, so not easy to locate via the certification body websites.
In the ideal world all our Suppliers would automatically update their customers when their FSP certs are renewed, (but then reality kicks in... :lol2: )
I know there are millions of suppliers globally, so maybe unrealistic to get them onto one register.
But in an ideal world, this would make one of the steps in the Supplier Approval and Assessment process, a lot more efficient if such a beast did exist, and was adopted by the Food industry.
Just wondering whether IFSQN (or others) had investigated offering this sort of service ?
I've heard of a few things like this but they never seem to gain traction. The company I work for joined one but many of our customers wouldn't accept it so it was a waste of document uploading.
GFSI would be in the best position to hold such a database, but whether there are any plans to do so I don't know.
I guess it would mean another admin charge for the food chain. :oops2:
Sounds like a dream...
I can only imagine the headaches of trying to keep that list updated!

I don't really see it being an issue if the standards were on-board, which I'm sure they wouldn't be, because it could be a system that once a certification is issued it's automatically pushed to the register of certified companies...
BRC, FSSC and SQF all have public directories of certificates. SGS also has a public directory of the certificates they have awarded. I believe that the auditee has to approve the release of certificates by SGS.

No central point for queries though.
