Does FSSC22000 Certification now equal ISO22000/9001 Certification?
Kevin McKinley, Deputy Secretary General, ISO noted that "we are pleased that FSSC 2200 introduced its own voluntary module for certification of quality management systems of mixed fodders with ISO 9001" .Therefore can we say that if my system is certified FSSC2200 it is also certified ISO 9001 and ISO 22000
Hi Elbochra,
It's like this -
If you have beeen successfully audited by an appropriately accredited Certification Body, say X, for a specific, documented Standard, say Y, you are (nominally) entitled to say that you have been certified to Y by X .
And that's it.
Of course you may also say lot's of other things according to your own opinion..
Hi elbochra,
You will need to request certification to the quality module as it is voluntary.
The certificate issued by FSSC 22000 will have the wording as prescribed by the scheme:
Furthermore, the certificate shall contain the following standard text:
The food safety management system of (name and place) has been assessed and complies with the requirements of:
FOOD SAFETY SYSTEM CERTIFICATION 22000-Q
Certification scheme for food safety and quality systems including
ISO 22000:2005, ISO 9001:2008,
“name of applicable technical specification for sector PRPs” and additional FSSC 22000 requirements
This certificate is applicable for (scope).

Hi Tony,
I assume that the ISO Organisation have authorised the owners of the FSSC Standard to make this statement on their behalf,
I would be interested to see the validation of this, to me, amazing claim. Based on a cross-matrix perhaps.
3 Certificates for the price of one, that must be an atttractive proposition !.
GFSI take note ?

Sites will need to buy a copy of each standard, ISO 9001, ISO 22000 and the appropriate sector prerequisite standard so for food manufacturing it is ISO/TS 22002-1:2009 Prerequisite programmes on food safety - Part 1: Food manufacturing.
GFSI don't care how many standards you need to purchase as long as the scheme is compliant with the guidance document.
Believe me, ISO will be 'Lovin it!'

Tony

But, from a financial POV, presumably not so much the ISO - auditing organisations. Job cuts on the way ?
Hi Charles
If you are quoting please ensure you include the name of the poster please.
I don't think there are any job cuts on the way, FSSC22000 has ensured longevity of the ISO food safety and quality related standards plus encouraged them to provide prerequisite related standards for each product category.
I have an ISO related Auditing Team Leader Certificate, it is not industry specific so I guess there no need for any redundancies?

Tony
