UK lab recommendations for validating our self-laundry process

Hello,

First post here but I would like to start by thanking you all for your valuable advice which has helped me get this far in mplenting our BRC.

To validate our self laundry process I would like to take swabs and have them tested, however I'm struggling to find a lab to do this.  To be honest I'm not really sure of the process so I'm probably not searching for the correct kind of thing.

So does anyone have any recommendations of a UK lab that will test swabs?   Or is there some kind of in house test that can be done?

Any help greatly received.

Hi welshbox,

Thks yr query and welcome to the Forum ! :welcome:

(1) Offhand i anticipate there are many who would absolutely love to come and do it all for you. But it may relate to yr specific area in "welshland"?

(2) I deduce you have no in-house micro. lab.  I believe there are some kinds of indicators which will confirm achieving a temperature level XdegC penetration but for specific in-house micro data, you probably need a lab. Although these magical days one never knows. other UK posters likely know.

I posted a set of (German) micro.specs for laundries on this forum a few years back. For UK I don't remember offhand seeing any so far. afaik the typical operational criterion is a sufficiently high temperature in the laundry sterilizing process, in area 70-80 degC from memory. (eg equipment dishwashers need > ca.82degC from a recent thread to "sterilize")

ALcontrol do test swabs from coats etc. Depends on how far you are from them, but they do pick up (for a price). I would expect all the labs to offer this service, but they are the only ones I know that do as I used to be responsible for swabs at one of their locations.

Thank you both.  I looked at AL Control and although they weren't near to me it gave me a good idea of the kind of lab I am looking for and I've managed to find a local company.

Celtic Food Labs on the Treforest Industrial Estate can test also.

Thank you Izzy, they were the ones I found :spoton:
