Application of FIFO system in FSSC 22000 certified organization?

Dear all,

May i be advised if Fifo system is mandatory in a Fssc 22000 certified organization that deals with non-expiry products such as PET bottles.

FIFO (specifically) is unlikely to be a mandatory requirement in FSSC 22000 for any business.  What is mandatory is that we do not put the products integrity or safety of products at risk by using ingredients, packaging or any other raw material that is beyond its shelf life.

Everything has an expiry date including PET bottles, if you have a specification for them check it, if you do not have a specification get one.

If we assume there is an expiry date and it is undesirable to use expired materials then it follows that you should operate FIFO.

If you want to use materials that have expired it may be possible for PET bottles by carrying out trials on sufficient samples to revalidate and confirm acceptable properties against the critical elements of the specification.
