Hi,

We are planning to import corn flour ( Maize) from  one of the European country .  it's basically plain flour doesn't add with additive and preservative.  The Corn flour been produced using the process of Nixtamalization ( Cooked  and process aided with calcium Hydroxide).

  • Need your advice  to understand, the present set of rules regarding  Product approval or food import In India.
  • Secondly Whether the the said product can be imported to India. ( without  any  legal hindrance )
  • Is there any process approval or approval status required for Nixtamalization.

Request your help on this front.

Regards,
Baskaran.G.

Hello Baskaran.G.,

Please download a copy of http://www.fssai.gov...for_Imports.pdf from internet and read.

There are lot of regulations and licenses required to import food in to india and so it wiil be better to import this item through  importers who already are importing food products. Corn flour does not require any product approval in india.

2 Thanks
