Hi Guys,

Just wanted something cleared.

PRP's outline WHAT it is we do,

and

SOP's are instructions on HOW we do it, correct?

So in writing my HACCP PRP's can I just give basic statements on what it is we are doing and reference the SOP that subject belongs to?

Hi AGomez,

What is the difference betweeen a Program and a Procedure ?

PRP.pdf   51.99KB   341 downloads

PRP2.pdf   84.91KB   299 downloads

I would say a Program is general information regarding a subject while a Procedure is a step-by-step set of instruction pertaining to a specific subject.

I would say in a HACCP Prerequisite context they are semantically interchangeable but Program is usually in the definition. "Program" is also used in the Collective sense.

It depends, eg -

SOP is surely a far more general term than PRP but may also be used identically  IMO

And then we have Work Instruction to assist a Procedure.

Charles C. that was the best explanation of policy, procedure, and program.

SOP - Standard Operating Procedure: A step by step instruction, like reading directions, of how the task is to be handled, completed or accomplished.
