Test methods & reference to find salt concentration in brine

Dear All,

kindly share me an easy and reliable testing procedure and reference (titration) to find salt concentration in brine solution. Salt we are using is sodium chloride and maximum concentration is 2 percentage per batch (3000L). if anyone having any accurate device to find salt concentration please share me the details.

For the second one, note that: [ppm (NaCl) x 10^-4 = %], eg 1000ppm = 0.1%

Thank you so mush for the sharing the information. I have gone through that, the first download says "The pH of the sample solutions should be between 6.5 and 10. (Refer to the additional notes (3) for the explanation). If the solutions are acidic, the gravimetric method or Volhard’s method should be used.

here my situation, the sample is acidic and pH is 3 to 4. thus kindly share me those test reference if you have.

the acidity makes it more tricky.

Here is Volhard's method for a salt solution -

IMO this method is best used by professional analysts, especially due toxicity of nitrobenzene. There are options which avoid it but which also may be less accurate.

     Not sure of your needed accuracy or test hardiness, but have you looked into a chloride probe?

Just on the same note as KTD what  kind of accuracy are you looking for? Because you could just use a salt brine Hydrometer and find an approximation on your salt concentration. This way is easy and you don't get into the complication of the use of chemicals. Also, if you need to know if this method is accurate we send samples out to a third party lab on a quarterly basis.
