What controls are required for windows in production?
We are a printing firm producing labels and other packaging to high risk category under BRC and will this year move to issue 5.
There is at the moment some alterations going ahead that will mean a window will now be in the production area so my question is.
Is this allowed?
What controls do we need to have in place?
The management don't seem to think this is going to be a problem.
Thanks in advance for all advice.
Hi,
We have a similar situation in our processing area. The windows were coated on the side facing production with a film designed to prevent shattering. We are SQF, but have not had any auditor issues with this solution.

Lynne
As Lynne stated above.
BRC Storage and Distribution states under 4.4.9 as follows;
Where there is a risk of contamination from window breakage, glass windows will be protected against breakage or the product will be adequately protected.
The Interpretation states: Windows may be protected from breakage using plastic film or a wire mesh.
