Hii all!!

Greetings!!!

Myself Vivek woking in an Aseptic Fruit Pulp industry.

Can anyone help me out with a proper method for Detection & Enumeration of Aerobic Plate Count with relevant literature refrences or even literatures may be.

At present am more confused on SETTLING VELOCITY. Is it required?!!! Are there any references supporting this??

Thanks..

Regards,

Vivek

What specific fruit are you talking about? In Philippines, we based our sampling methods on PNS (Philippine National Standard) which is very specific on a particular product, i.e. mango beverages or citrus beverages.

Why not check out your Country's standard regarding food and beverages, refer to your local Food and Drug Administration.

Hello Vivek,

in principle, there are for me two possibilities for air count monitoring:

  • open plate with sedimentation of micros (what I know is usually 15 min. of open time)
  • using a sampling apparatus sampling a defined volume  of air onto a plate

In my company we use the air sampling machine, as the volume checked is more reliable. Because of sedimentation, there may be huge differences depending on the air movement within the surrounding (e.g. if you have an air flow getting up faster then a possible sedimentation velocity, you will have problems with sedimentation).

We are checking with the machine for 100l or 1000l depending on the air we want to check.

Werner

Hi Vivek,

The links below are not specific to fruit but may assist in respect to monitoring / evaluating of air quality in food plants.

Vivek-

We can assist you with purchasing a sampler for collecting compressed air or compressed gas samples. You would then need to find a micro lab in your country for analyses. Please let us know if we can answer any questions for you!
