Hi,

Unfortunately it's £95, but downloadable from here (with payment)

Hi,

by subscribing to BRC Participate,

http://www.brcparticipate.com/signin

you may access to BRC standard relevant interpretation guideline and Best practice guidelines.

hello gagasain1,

AFAIK, only the standard can be downloaded free. But if you want to certificated, you have to purchase the the books.

Hi redfox,

Based on previous threads, it seems, currrently, an electronic, free,  downloaded-from-BRC  presentation of the BRC7 Standard is considered suffficient for certification purposes.

Unless something has changed of course.

Hello Charles,

Thank you for the info. But NSF auditor requires us to purchase standard and guidelines via electronic download or the hard copy. We purchased the hard copy of both books. Otherwise we will get Major NC.

Regards,

redfox

Hi redfox,

Please refer to clause 1.1.7

The site shall have a genuine, original hard copy or electronic version of the current Standard available and be aware of any changes to the Standard or protocol that are published on the BRC website.

afaik, the above text has not been revised since initial release (?). Above text is slightly ambiguous English IMO but i anticipate an electronic version is required to be evidentially original/genuine. (Seems logical from a user's POV also).

The previous latest thread I could see here on this topic is from 2015 although  I think there is another one here from 2016 also.

However, from Googling, I did notice this statement on a website –

It is a requirement of the BRC Standard that the site seeking certification have a purchased copy of the BRC Global Standard for Food Safety and that this purchased Standard be on location at the site to be certificated.  Standards may be purchased directly from the BRC website.

I also noticed this comment on BRC website –

Our aim is to make sure an audit is carried out in exactly the same way, regardless of your product, country of production, certification body or auditor. This ensures the integrity and consistency of the BRC Standards Certification scheme no matter where you are in the world.

If you wish to confirm the exact situation at your location –

It appears that the reality may be a case of "caveat emptor"

Dear Charles,

I think the quote1 is the one applied and been told by the auditor to us when we were audited against BRC ver6 lasBRC last year. But since BRC ver7 would take effect on July 2015, we just purchased a hard copy of BRC ver7.

Dear Redfox,

BRC only requires you to present the standard to auditor, no need to purchase. Your NSF auditor did over interpret the requirement. Send your CAR to BRC to appeal for this. John Higgins, a Technical Manager at BRC, can help you.

Hello KK,

We will include it in our monthly meeting about the info that you provide.

Thank you,

Hi Koko LMQ,

I agree with yr comment but IIRC the opinion in previous discussions here was that it would be necessary to use a (free) BRC downloaded electronic version, ie not just any random copy. Not sure if that requirement is stated anywhere though.
