Should antioxidants from fats be included in the list of ingredients?
Hi all
I have an uncertainty regarding the correct labeling of a few food products that the company I work for, produces. The fat we use in the production of our biscuits(cookies) and wafers contains, according to the producer specifications, antioxidants like: tocopherol, BHA, and so on.
My question is: do we have to declare them as ingredients in our products, considering that in the final product (Biscuits, Wafers), additives would have the same role ( of antioxidants) as in the fat
Also, does UE Regulation 1169-2011, article 20, paragraph b, pc. (i) cover this situation?
Appreciate in advance for your reply
Best regards,

Hi Carmen,
You Need to ask yourself the following question : do the additives present in the fat have a technological role in your finished product? (if you used a fat without These additives, would you obtain the same result on your end product, incl. at the end of its life?).
The answer to that is the answer to your question.

Pauline
Hi Pauline,
Thank you for your answer. We will analyze the problem considering this practical aspect, not just theoretical aspects, as we have done up to now.
