NIST certified thermometers-best economical choice.

We currently calibrate our thermometers using an ice bath, but during audit, we must use a NIST certified thermometer, which I understand the certified only lasts one year.  Does anyone know options to fix this correction that I need to make.  Thank you.

You omitted to state for whom the audit was undertaken, eg which FS Standard.

IMEX a typical FS requirement is that it is necessary to possess at least one master thermometer (MT).

The MT is typically required to have documentation that it has been calibrated at an (appropriately) accredited laboratory using calibration equipment  traceable to NIST (in USA).

The MT can be used internally to calibrate yr other thermometers using procedures such as ice baths.

The MT's calibration documentation is typically required to be renewed annually, ie unit is re-calibrated as described above.
