We're a direct food packaging manufacturer.

Could someone please advise if Regualtion EC 2023/2006 on good manufacturing practice for materials and articles intended to come into contact with food is mandatory?  One of my suppliers is telling me that there is no seperate certificate, it is part of the 1935/2004 regulations.  Other suppliers are telling me they are certified to both regulations.

Can I say our end product complies with 2023/2006 if the material used is covered by 1935/2004?

Thanks for any advice.

2023/2006 is law and therefore it is mandatory if your products fall within its remit and you are selling within the EU.

As it is a law and not a Standard, there will not be a specific certificate to demonstrate compliance. However, if you are certified to the BRC/IoP or similar Standard you are pretty safe in claiming that your processes meet the requirements of 2023/2006.

Great thank you.  Both we and our supplier are BRC certified and reading through the regulation it seems pretty straightforward.  Thanks for clearing up the difference between a law and a standard too.

Regulation 2023/2006 IS MANDATORY FOR ALL FCM producers,

My advice for any FCM producer is to develop and implenent a Quality Management System and a Traceability System applied to all of the company's establishments.

These are, more or less, the Regulation requirements.
