Risk Assessment - BRC Version 7
Hi
I participated in the Risk Awareness webinar last week, I just have one query in relation to the Risk Assessments, are they included in our Hazzard Analysis or do they need to be documented separately. We have separate Risk Analysis for Allergens and Micro but just wondering about all the others. We currently have just gained our first BRC and want to be prepared for the next one.

Hi Adele,
Your OP is to me a little confusing. It seems yr hazard analysis methodology does not involve risk assessment. IMEX this is unusual.
Perhaps you could upload an example of yr hazard analysis to illustrate yr methodology and facilitate answering yr query.
I do the ancillary risk assessments separately from the HACCP hazard analysis f. ex the Site security, Allergens, TACCP /VACCP, Metal detection etc I file them in a risk assessment folder. My client has AA certification, I'm not proud ...or tiring......
Thanks for the responses, our hazzard analysis does include a risk assessment, I was just quering if i needed any further detail on the risk assessment process to be kept in another file for auditing purposes.

Hi Adele,
It's difficult to offer a meaningful answer without some specific example.
Hello Adelle,
In HACCP, hazard analysis which RA is included, no need to make a different sheet for it. In that document, you are already dealing with the significant hazards and itd uncertainties (likelihood) and magnitude (severity).
Do RA in activities like, purchasing of raw material, cleaning of primary packaging and etc.
Please see RA attached, it may help.

Hi redfox,
Thanks for the nice excel.
There are various literature definitions/interpretations in the Haccp-Risk “Family”. If one follows BRC –
Risk - The likelihood of occurrence of harm from a hazard.
Risk analysis - A process consisting of three components: risk assessment, risk management and risk
communication.
Risk assessment - The identification, evaluation and estimation of the levels of risk involved in a process to determine an appropriate control process.
In a basic format, one might set “Risk Assessment” = L x S + a ranking, eg L/M/H
So the OP might have been asking if one can present a BPCA Hazard Analysis without an “in-line” “L x S” evaluation.
If so the answer is clearly YES since (rightly or wrongly) some Hazard Analyses use tabular formats or (directly) Trees. Nonetheless afaik these still involve an implicit Risk Assessment.
Need a little OP clarification.
Thank you all - this has been great,
A
