Hi,

I'm not sure what exactly is your query, however following are few examples related to suppliers that you can choose if it works;

1. Ensuring incoming material / ingredients or primary package are from approved/ authorized source

2. Ensuring incoming material is of approved/ desired quality or grade.

3. Ensuring ingredients are manufactured as per desired process (if there is specific conditions/ process you need to be followed by supplier e.g. storage of suppliers finished product (ingredient for you) in right condition as per your requirement (chilled, frozen etc.) or ensuring ingredient is manufactured from a specific source e.g. not from GMO, not having allergens etc.

Approved Supplier Program

In addition to the above, how you approve suppliers. How you monitor suppliers. How you handle supplier non-conformances and follow up on corrective actions.

Specific requirements will depend on what GFSI scheme you follow (if any).

Hello,

i suggest you have a look at the appropriate sections for Supplier Approval in the BRC, SQF. ISO FS Standards plus the responses/Examples from posters on this forum describing procedures to satisfy such requirements.

Defining any supplier control requirements also involves a risk assessment of the material involved.

here are the ISO 22002-1 (PRP Compilation) generic suggestions -

9.2 Selection and management of suppliers

There shall be a defined process for the selection, approval and monitoring of suppliers. The process used shall be justified by hazard assessment, including the potential risk to the final product, and shall include:

a) assessment of the supplier’s ability to meet quality and food safety expectations, requirements and specifications;

b) description of how suppliers are assessed;

NOTE Examples of a description of how suppliers are assessed include:

1) audit of the supplying site prior to accepting materials for production;

2) appropriate third party certification.

c)  monitoring the performance of the supplier to assure continued approval

status.

NOTE Monitoring includes conformity with material or product specifications, fulfilment of COA requirements, satisfactory audit outcomes.
