Is an in-house Certificate of Analysis acceptable?

Hi

We are a producer of sultanas and currently get a micro done on each production run.

We are currently getting our micro testing of samples done by a third party lab. We are looking to bring this in-house but need to confirm if a COA produced from in house testing is acceptable of does our internal lab need to be NATA certified.

Thanks in advance for your assistance

Hi Georgie,

It may depend on who the COA is required to be acceptable to ?

Thanks

Thanks

To elaborate, if the data is only for internal issues the decision is up to you but it is "Good Practice" for a lab to validate its System. A typical route is via Ring testing.

If the data is for contractual purposes, yr customer may demand something like iso17025 certification. Or even yr Parent company if such exists.

FS Standards like BRC require, from memory, a system having an equivalent capability as per iso17025.

It genuinely "all depends" but, based on innumerable micro. arguments, especially with non-technical customers, over results, i would highly recommend to "Be prepared".
