Food-Grade Rust Sealant?

One of our food-grade warehouses/distribution centers recently got dinged on an inspection for having flaking rust in our racking system. There was no product around where this flaking was occurring (we also only deal with bagged or boxed ingredients), but it was recommended we use a rust sealant to prevent future rust flakes. Does anyone have a recommendation on a rust sealant that we could safely use in our warehouse?

Thank you for your help!

Hi,

This has also been an issue for us.  We researched paints, etc. and found that both Sherwin Williams and Rustoleum have an extensive line of food grade coatings.  Their brochures/catalogs of food grade products are readily available online.

Try this one - MCS  -- just look for product that can be used in a food facility and does not fume off -- http://www.mscdirect.com/

Depends on how much money you want to spend...there are plenty of rust proof coatings and sealants that you can use, but they typically aren't cheap.  You can also maintain it in-house through inspection and removing flaking paint and rust.  This is really a never ending maintenance plan for racking.
