Low Cost Traceability Options
I am working with a small co-packing company and I am to the point where we are starting to work on their traceability programs. I am looking for suggestions on low cost, robust traceability programs. Right now their system involves digging through filing cabinets. I was thinking setting up a spreadsheet might be the easiest and least expensive method but thought I would see what other ideas people have.
Thanks in advance.
Depending on your familiarity with Access, that might be the better way to go.
Assuming a "small" co-packing company, It should be fairly easy to set up a simple database to do traceability.
If you are more comfortable with Excel, that is doable, but you are going to have to do pivot tables/reports to drill down to the data you will need.
Either way, you are going to have to define the data that is important to do your traceabilty and ensure that data is entered the same way, all the time.

Thanks. I want to make sure whatever I set up is easy enough for them to use and manage once I am no longer consulting. My knowledge of Access is limited and from what I gather from this company if something happened with the database they wouldn't have anyone on site to fix it.
