The IFS&QN community's knowledge will be appreciated on the following topic:

Acceptable Levels of Total Plate Count and Total Yeast Mold Count in Metal Packaging

We are working with a screw top aluminum canister that has a foam liner inside the lid.  The canister will be filled with a paste to be used for a men's grooming product.

We are trying to understand/create an acceptable standard for the canister, prior to filling, in CFU/ml for Total Plate Count and Total Yeast Mold Count.

Your advice will be very appreciated!

Thank you.

Is there any particular regulation these products must adhere to? Could you reference this regulation and determine what the requirement may be? If nothing available, perhaps discuss this with your customer on the expectations. If this is your product, perhaps a discussion with R&D to determine what is required to meet design specifications.
