Hi mjl,

Probably one of the most asked/answered questions on this Forum. Answers are usually referenced to links for US downloadable packages.

Just for variety, here's another one -

Guide Food Defense Plan for Food Processing Plants.pdf   278.7KB   227 downloads

and one more

Kraft Food_Defense_Supplier_Guidelines.pdf   329.52KB   225 downloads -

Hi

I know this post is quite a while ago, but I am looking for a more simple site Securty policy, we are a chemicals company, which supply food/feed grade to manufactures.

the accredition we are going for states the following

The company shall have a documented procedure that outlines the actions to be taken in the event of any suspicious or unusual activity.

and

The company shall record actions taken in the event of incident, emergency or suspicious activity

Hey Jacquie, I am also currently at a chemical company that supplies food/feed (and USP) grade ingredients to manufacturers. I didn't think there were many of us out there!

Does your accrediting body state anywhere that it has to be its own policy? If the only thing they require for security are those 2 clauses, and you don't have a Food Defense policy, you could easily add them to an existing Crisis Management Plan.

I have to ask though, are you sure they don't have more clauses for Food Defense? Something stating you have to have the above in addition to any regulatory requirements perhaps? Typically Food Defense clauses would cover the above, and they would not only be driven at the certification body level but also at a regulatory level.

Hi Tim

we have been accreditated for UFAS ( UFAS is based on HACCP principles, a system originally pioneered by space agency NASA, but now forming the bedrock of EU Food and Feed legislation.   The scheme is audited and certified by an independent certification body, in accordance with the internationally recognised standard EN45011 (also known as ISO Guide 65). This means that the certification body is itself independently assessed every year to ensure that the standard is implemented and administered consistently and fairly. Partly as a result of this independence of inspection, local authorities now include participation in UFAS in their risk assessments of Feed businesses.) but we are now going for FIAS (FIAS )was launched on 9th January 2006 and assures fertiliser security and traceability in the industry supply chain. The UK government encouraged and supported this industry initiative as an alternative to further legislation. AIC manages the development and implementation of the scheme under the supervision of the FIAS Steering Group, which has representatives from government and industry stakeholders.

I have a business continuture plan, but I think a simple Know your customer, supplier, vistor policy would be more what they are asking for

and great to know i am not the only one our there.

i only joined the company in August 2019 and so far i have gained them ISO9001 14001 and UFAS i know we are also thinking of going for BRC so its all a new learning curve for me.

Regards

Jacquie
