BRC 3.5.1.1 - Packaging Risk Assessment for Jute bag

Please I need help in carrying out risk assessment for jute bag packaging according to BRC 3.5.1.1.

The risk assessment depends on what is packed into it.
E.g. there is a difference if the jute bag contains shell fish or rice/peanuts.
Please take also in consideration if these jute bags are re-used again. I have seen jute bags that were previously used for peanuts (according the print on it) to be used for holding vegetables. Allergens!

Thanks for your response. The product packed is rice and the jute bags are not reusable.
According to 3.5.1.1 "The risk assessment shall form the basis for the raw material acceptance" So the answer to your question depends on your HACCP study.
Does the jute bag come into direct contact with food?
* If yes you need to ask the packaging supplier to send you Declaration of Compliance or a statement which will confirm the bags being food grade, ingredients of the jute which may potentially harm your product and information on allergens.
* If it does not come into direct contact then you need to assess in your HACCP study whether your primary packaging constitutes a functional barrier to protect your product from potential hazards coming from jute bag. If primary packaging is sufficient than Declaration of compliance may exclude the confirmation of food grade. But should still include the absence of allergens, chemicals etc which may potentially harm your product when the final consumer handles it.
This Declaration of Conformity or statement along with your MSQ can be sufficient for 3.5.1.1.
