3rd Party Audit Standard Rec for Raw, Agricultural Dried Products?
Good morning everyone,
I work for a company that sources raw agricultural, dry products from overseas suppliers. Some of these suppliers are in countries where the food safety standards are not super up to par with the US. As a result, many of these suppliers do not have any 3rd party certification. I want to work with those suppliers in getting some sort of 3rd party certification. I’m not familiar with standards besides SQF and BRC for processed ingredients… and I think it may be a stretch to require them to get BRC or SQF certification because these are raw agricultural, dry products. Do you have any recommendations on specific standard I should look into? Or do you think any food safety third party audit will do? Any GMP audit? Any help is greatly appreciated!!!
When you said dry products it means to me those are legumes or rice or some other dry fruit maybe. Iso 22 000 will be proper for this type of product . Not restrict as BRC...I have not met a specific standarts for dry food yet .

Standard GMP audits would work and you could yourself workup an audit checklist and go do the audits yourself.
Maybe develop from standards like BRC Global Gap and simplify to what you think attainable but still meaningful ?
IIRC typical content lists for above exist on IT, possibly even on this forum.
Thank you for all of the recommendations! We actually do have our own audit form, but due to time and cost, we are only able to visit a small number of suppliers every year. A few of our suppliers showed interest in obtaining 3rd party food safety certification and I think these resources may help!
