I am a little confused when you say 'manufacturing code'.  We utilize the production job number as part our lot code. Hope this helps.

in order to codify our final products we will need to start with some digits to represent the manufacturing code.

in order to codify our final products we will need to start with some digits to represent the manufacturing code.

For example in spice industry product code internal batch code would acronym of product name like white onion powder manufactured for xyz company say coded as 01 in July month 2017 on date 18 would be P01WOP18G17A /12
Where P is company first name where manufactured 01 for company xyz white onion powder manufactured on date 18 G coded for month in shift A (morning) 1st shift. 12 serial number of bag number.
I hope it would help you.

For fg batch code you may follow different parameter

Another suggestion for lot code is use julian date code. A lot of company uses julian date to identify the day their product was manufactured.

Start with the julian date code and then you can add shift code, plant code etc.

Example:

2007 (today's julian code is 200 for 2017-07-19, 7 is for 2017) you can also add shift code (1 for 1st shift, 2 for 2nd etc), so it becomes 20071, and then if you have different plant that manufacture the product (01 - plant a , 02 plant b, 03 plant c etc.) so it becomes 2007101.

So it all depends on what is most convenient for your company and the resources available to put the codes on your products.

Are you on about your own numbering?

Health certificate number?

Commodity code?
