Hanging Clocks in the production floor

Hello,

Wanted some input on what you use to hang clocks in the production floor.  Are nails ok?  What has been done in the facilities you have worked in?

Nails are fine, screws are better use big ones that aren't an obvious choking hazard.

Slightly OT, but also make sure your clocks match the same time as any coders you have that include timestamps. That way your production documentation times can mesh with coding times.

Hallo,

In our production floor we have clocks with shutter proof glass hanged on neatly welded hooks(not directly above open food).Visual Inspection is done on weekly basis to ensure the glass is intact.

Hello,

We also have shatterproof clocks in our production area, not directly above machinery and production line though. They are transmitter controlled, so they always display the correct time. We attached them with screws. They are periodically controlled through the glass control procedure. Bare in mind that, when the nail or screw falls, the clock also falls, which means that there is immediate action to find the parts through the glass procedure. Loss of a nail or screw without one noticing is therefore highly unlikely.

Be careful about the confidence that transmitter controlled clocks inspire. I worked in one place which used them and none of the clocks displayed the same time. The reason was all the pipework around the building worked as a Farraday Cage and blocked out the radio signal!

Thanks. Did not know that. At our plant it works fantastic, but important to check if it will work before purchasing!

Dear Elvap,

My advice is to not use nails in production zones. In fact, nails have no grip in the wall (like screws), as they are smooth.

For the screws in production areas, decide which type of screws will be the standard in your production area (for example: hexagon headed ones). Furthermore make sure that they are made of stainless steel and rejected by your metal detector by passing through in different directions.

Kind regards,
