SQF code 8 - 11.2.9

To satisfy the SQF requirement (see below), I will add to our work instruction related to non-ingredient purchasing & receiving stating what should be considered prior to buying utensils & PPE. For equipment, we have a procedure which focuses on requirements set out by CFIA FSEP program and our own headquarters requirement for equipment design and installation.

11.2.9 Equipment, Utensils and Protective Clothing

My preventive maintenance SOP simply states that new equipment will be purchased that can be cleaned/maintained in a sanitary manner and doesn't introduce hazards, and that QA will have a chance to review equipment before purchase when possible. I haven't had an auditor look into this requirement very much.

Regarding protective clothes - I am requiring specs for hair restraints, gloves, disposable aprons, shoe covers, etc. For our employee cloth uniforms I requested from the uniform serves provider their policy for laundering, microbial monitoring to verify effectiveness, repair and inspection procedure and an audit certificate.
