How to trend results data from product and environment testing?

So i am trying to come up with a way to trend and analyse results data from product and environment testing over a year etc.

with each sample point or product, you will of course have various tests undertaken with their respective results.

How are people putting this into a chart form to allow simple trending and or analysis of the data?

ideally for me id like to have Month in year- Result data i.e counts and in categories id have say sample point 1 with sub categories of each test. if that makes sense.

or are people having to make multiple charts for each sample point??? i dunno. giving me a head ache it is....

any advice or examples welcome.....

Hi DRFSM,

For environmental testing I would use a traffic light system Red/Amber/Green and dot results on a large 'map' of your sample points. By taking a quick look at the result you can see any issues and problem areas. You could mark the dot with a letter denoting the test but that may get messy, so if need be use a separate map for each test.

For product I would be reporting compliance versus specification in an excel file with spreadsheets of results summarised on the first sheet. Any issues on the first sheet can then be looked at in more detail.

Also have a look at the slides on AKQ and MTA from one of my FSL presentations. There is also a video of FSL 2016, http://www.ifsqn.com...-live-2016-r119 the relevant part in the video is around 2Hr 34mins 35 secs onwards.

Kind regards,

Tony

Hi DRFSM,

I agree with Tony that the relevance of any trended data will depends on its compliance requirement(s).

IMO yr options/benefits likely depend on what kind/quantity of micro.data/testing you are talking about. And the product/process/type of environment.

I expect you know that quantitative data for various micro. characteristics, eg APC, is famous for its lack of accuracy. And i daresay ATP data also.

Env. pathogen data mostly tends to be pass/fail/presumptive.

IMEX in-house micro testing of any significant magnitude (eg n products/daily) will rapidly overwhelm most lab. capabilities and may cost a fortune if outsourced.

For finished product it may be more useful to carry out nmMc evaluations.

But if you are referring to a process supposedly under statistical micro. control, that is a different situation.
