Storage of Chemicals for Cleaning

Hello,

 

I work in a beverage plant, and we store our cleaning agents behind the CIP area, separated by an aluzinc wall. The nearest production area is about 30m far.

 

Should we store the cleaning agents outside the facility to comply with fssc standards our is it enough to ensure the chemicals are safely and securely stored?.

 

We have a drainage system in the warehouse and mechanical ventilation.

Dear Juan,

 

The idea for the food safety is that cleaning chemicals are stored in dedicated and separated rooms, locked with a key. Only authorized personnel has acces to such areas.

 

When in use in the company during cleaning, there needs to be measures in place to avoid product contamination.

They need to be secured in some manner.  Whether you somehow limit the personnel who can access the chemicals, or limit traffic in the areas somehow.

 

We use locking bungs on all of our cleaning chemicals because the facility wasn't designed with chemical security in mind...unfortunately.  Only personnel who need access to the chemicals have the keys.  

 

If you lock or secure anything you have to assign and audit the keys on a regular frequency and if someone loses a key they have to go to a specific person to get a new key.
