Food Fraud
A new element to to the SQF 8 edition code is Food Fraud and a written policy regarding the act. Food Fraud is an intentional act for economical gain, which by definition makes it much different than the broadly known food safety incident, or food defense incident. Has anyone developed a Food Fraud Policy utilizing the referenced Food Crime Triangle? Element of the triangle being: 1. The Fraud Opportunity 2. Victim 3. Fraudster 4. Guardian & Hurdle Gaps

- supply chain mapping
- determine critical points
- assessment strategy
- detection plan

Hi Arianna,
From memory the Crime Triangle approach was pioneered for food in the UK around time of Horsegate and IIRC also picked up by NSF and maybe others. Various food oriented publications detail that work.
GFSI's recognised standards have afaik tended to avoid this approach and other methods (eg Campden / PAS 96) which tend to involve Fraud "CCPs"

Thank you for your prompt reply. I feel Fraud CCP's are also something I would like to avoid. I will utilize SSAFE's food fraud vulnerability tool and see what comes from that.
SSAFE and PwC’s ‘Food Fraud Vulnerability Assessment’ is freely available now for all food companies to download in Excel at www.ssafe-food.org or online at www.pwc.com/foodfraud. It will be available for download on Apple’s App Store or on Google Play later this month.

I concur yr avoidance of CCPs but as you can see from parallel threads here the SSAFE tool/links have seemingly generated operational difficulties for some people.
It appears that implicitly SQF are "sponsoring" SSAFE.
Hopefully you will be one of the lucky users. It would be nice if you can supply feedback on yr usage satisfaction.
