2.7.2 - Vulnerability Assessment

Every time I turn around a find another part of this code that leaves my entire team stumped.
This week it is 2.7.2 Food Fraud which now impacts my Approved Supplier Program because a Vulnerability Assessment must be completed and documented.
How would our raw materials be vulnerable and where do I find the confirmation or detail of how they would be? We printed paperboard boxes, some with cello windows.
Does anyone have any idea how this related to our specific product?
An obvious vulnerability for food fraud in packaging materials/ingredients is if you currently purchase an ingredient that is supposed to be "food grade" like resin, and they could reasonably sell you "non-food grade" material that would be cheaper for them, that's an obvious incentive for fraud. This would be controlled by supplier approval and/or independent testing. If none of your packaging is a food contact substance then this isn't really an issue for you.

We are being audited for non-direct good contact packaging.
Does this mean this entire section is N/A? If so, why is that not indicated in the Edition 8 Code which is specifically for my industry?

It's not NA, it means you performed a vulnerability assessment and identified no vulnerabilities to food fraud. Other food packaging providers (e.g. bottles or film) have food contact substances that could become adulterated if an inferior ingredient was substituted.
It's similar to having a HACCP plan with no CCP's. Just because you didn't identify a critical control point doesn't make you exempt from the HACCP process. Be grateful your vulnerability assessment is simple and revisit it year to year in case you ever do have a customer requirement for using indirect food contact substances.

I predict this will be for BRC, SQF etc the analog of OPRP for iso22000, ie a gigantic PITA.

Peace be with you on making VA. Just refer some articles on google and attachment on posts here in IFSQN and make your own based on supply chain of custody. Identify on which point your raw material is vulnerable based on your previous experience, technical data, news and other articles from trade and government agencies.
