All Natural Claim on Uncured Bacon

Hello,

I wanted to ask about ALL NATURAL CLAIM ON UNCURED BACON,

CAN ONE CLAIM ALL NATURAL IF THE MEAT IS INJECTED OR MARINATED BY SOAKING ? TO ME, INJECTION DOESN’T MEET THE CRITERIA OF MINIMALLY PROCESSED AND HENCE CANNOT BE CLAIMED ALL NATURAL. ALSO WHAT ABOUT MARINATION BY SOAKING, DOES THAT QUALIFY UNDER ALL NATURAL ?

I would appreciate your responses.

Thanks,

From FSIS:

"Natural": A product containing no artificial ingredient or added color and is only minimally processed. Minimal processing means that the product was processed in a manner that does not fundamentally alter the product. The label must include a statement explaining the meaning of the term natural (such as “no artificial ingredients; minimally processed”).

Assuming that the ingredients used in your marinade could also be considered "natural", this might be okay. I would submit your query to askFSIS to the LPDD group and get an answer directly from FSIS.
