Food Fraud- Code of Ethics/Whistleblowing

Hi all,

Could anyone help guide me in what a code of ethics and whistle blowing system should look like/contain with respect to a food fraud mitigation plan?  We have an ethical trading policy based on ETI but I don't know if that is what is required in this instance?  Does a whistle blowing system have to be very complicated or is it enough to include a slide in a training programme advising employees to report suspicious behaviour to a named person?

Thanks in advance!

You should already have a suspicious activity reporting plan in place....just change the wording to include the phrase "whistle blowing" without risk of action against the employee and you should be covered.

The suspicious activity should also include unfamiliar or un-escorted people

Hello,

Whistle-blowing is against the employer, if the said employer is not following labor laws (social compliance), and making/shipping illegal or unsafety food product. We conduct seminar in our plant to our employee to be vigilant if the have sense or see suspicious activity but another employees or outsiders for our Food Defense Program.

But, in BRC 8 draft, they fortified the rule and the protection of the whistle blower against the employers who produce illegal and unsafe product.
