Food Defense - FDA's take on most significant risks

I read this in Food Business News

Scottt Gottleib PhD FDA Commissioner;

"extensive analysis shows that some of the most significant risks are posed by an attack perpetrated by someone who has legitimate access to a facility, perhaps under the guise of an employee...that is why the new rule asks facilities to focus their efforts on processing activities, that, if deliberately attached by a rogue insider, could potentially result in a wide spread contamination of products"

FDA has id'd 4 specific locations/areas;

Bulk liquid receiving and loading

liquid storage and handling

secondary ingredient handling

mixing and similar activities

"we'll soon be publishing the first chapters of this three part draft guidance to focus on important questions that I've heard" (also Scott Gottleib) and basically said the inspectors are not trained as yet but that they on working on creating the training documents

Hi Scampi,

Did you mean Food Fraud? isn't this related to Threats and Vulnerability?

But a different reality shapes the seventh rule on Intentional Adulteration. This provision seeks to prevent acts of terrorism meant to harm and kill many people.

More info on the FDA website here:

Kind regards,

Tony
