Antibacterial probe wipes

We have used antibacterial probe wipes for a number of years to clean thermometer probes after being using to check core temperatures of product both after thermal processing and cooling.  We had a statement from the supplier to say they were food safe.  Recently we were forced to change our cleaning chemical supplier and replace all our cleaning chemicals including probe wipes.

We are a BRC v 7 Food site and as part of this have an approval procedure for non-food chemicals.  If the chemical is 'high risk' i.e. likely to be in contact with open food then our procedure requires that it is food safe along with an MSDS sheet and allergen free statement.

I am struggling to get information that the probe wipes are food safe - they are recommended for use for disinfecting temperature probes, knife blades, utensils & small surfaces, however are they safe for actual contact with open product.  Say an operator uses the wipe to clean the probe then inserts it straight away into product, there will be traces of the chemical still on the probe which have now been transferred into the product.

We also have antibacterial wipes from another supplier which are larger and come in a white plastic bucket, the supplier of these states on their website that they  are not to be used in contact with food - we use these in a low risk area where they in no open product.

Any advice would be welcome as we need to obtain probe wipes which are food safe.

Thanks

Use a generic alcohol based wipe, let dry, follow with a potable water rinse...problem solved.  The alcohol will evaporate off as it dries and the potable rinse is just for extra insurance.
