Use of chemicals in warehouse

There are a few commonly used non-flammable chemicals that we use routinely in the warehouse for cleanup and dunnage applications during loading.  While we typically lock these up when not in use, I wonder if it is really is necessary, since they are used so often and not in contact with the product?

It is a requirement in GFSI that non food chemicals are stored where:

"Hazardous chemicals and toxic substances with the potential for food contamination shall be stored so as
not to present a hazard to staff, product, packaging, product handling equipment or areas in which product is handled, stored or transported"   I'm quoting SQF, but all will have a similar requirement.

If you can perform a risk assessment that says categorically there is zero risk, you may be ok, otherwise, just lock it up daily when done

so having them out during the day is adequate rather than storing them after each use?

You should double check BRC (not that familiar) but SQF has a provision for chemicals used during production and their storage

What does the code actually say?
