Greetings,

We are a storage and distribution of produce. We have been asked to implement pet food. Our question is does this affect our scope, will we have to have a separate audit for the pet food storage and distribution aspect?

We are SQF certified Level 2 Module 2 and 12.

Thank you for any insight.

You will have to have another category added to your establishment, so yes your scope will change, but it should not add a seperate audit.

When in doubt, contact your CB

Hi Kay,

You indicated modules, but not your Food Sector Catagory - need that.

Assuming no touch of product - as in you don't repack, all you do is store and ship out...

Assuming your FSC is distribution only and added the pet food is in sealed bags and all you are doing is passing thru then the only thing you would need to do is contact your CB and add this to your scope.

With that in mind you would need to review your entire SQF program to ensure you are in compliance with things like allergen programs, etc.

Thank you for the info. We are Food Sector Categories 25 and 26.

We will contact our CB and get this added to our scope.
