Soy found in products when no soy in facility
Hi everyone,
Looking for some guidance:
We do not have soy in any of our products in our facility. A customer tested a product we produced for them and found soy (14ppm , their limit is <2.5 ppm) in the product. They tested the material before it was sent to us and there was no soy.
So where did this soy come from? And what do I do now.
We contacted the transport company, they do not transport soy in the trucks we used
We are sending material produced around the same time for soy testing, as well as the product they tested.
I was warned not to start swabbing for soy allergen in our facility as that could open us up to issues... but what are my other options ...?
HELP!
Michelal,
For starters, inquire your customers how many samples they send for Raw material testing for SOY and how many results are out of compliance? Do they have results for only one sample from a third party lab?
Also please share the ingredients and product made, as it can give a possible idea of your situation to understand.
Sanitation records while processing of this lot ( and in general a Good Sanitation Plan) can be very helpful to your case in front of our customer.
I agree with FSQA
Begin by sending your own composite samples out to a third party lab for analysis (hopefully you held controls back)
Hello,
where is the Production site? May be from the fields around, if it is grown, and your facility is not well sealed

You did your part in sending retains for testing. In the meantime, review your processes and records from that week.
Did you see both their testing results?
