Site Security, facility entry and monitoring system
Question- I am in the process of trying to get my facility an entry system and a monitoring system of all entry and exit points. My question is we have a main entry door to the facility which leads to the offices and another set of doors to inside the plant. Can I just have the entry system on the doors that enter the facility or does the main door that lead to the offices have to be included?
Hi Lauralash,
That depends on what you're trying to accomplish - whilst access to the factory is the concern for direct food security, access to offices/computers can be just as relevant a concern.
If you're putting a new system in then I don't really see why you wouldn't do both entrances?
I would do both for different reasons.........both for security.......the office is full of privileged information, and in the event of an issue you'd want to know who was there who ought not be
BTW, make sure that you get a system that allows for area privileges to be issued by employee
Maintenance, Plant Manager and QA need access to everywhere all of the time..............
Shift employees; plant lunchroom and office during regular business hours only
etc etc
Hi, Lauralsiah.
By monitoring system, what do you mean? Is this CCTV or biometrics (with fingerprint or keycards)? IF in the offices that you pertain have valuable information that needs to be safeguarded, then monitoring system must also be in place especially if the site have history of a cases of important things missing.
If with limited resources and actions are basically coming from need for food security, then going to production facility can be prioritized. But again, as mention by Post #2,#3, please have for both.
