It really comes down to a risk assessment of the nature of your product.  If you think your product can harbor or has potential for microbial growth you can have tests done to determine the level of risk associated with that.  If it is a very low risk, you could have the testing done every 6 months or so for example.

If you are BRC accredited it is a mandatory requirement to conduct EPM however as TAW states (above) whether you test your product/ingredients depends on your risk assessment & organisms of concern (as detailed in your site HACCP plan).

Product = ?

pathogen = ?

customer requirement = ?

hi all,

thanks for ur all input.  My product is edible ice, the product purely made from potable water, usually we  conduct microbial test which is related to water such as e.coli , coliform n so on as per legally requirement.  Lately, there have local authorities came in n tested our product on salmonella spp, bacillus cereus and coagulase positive Staphylococci ... As such , we are take this into consideration  if there is a need to have monitoring on above pathogen.

Water/ice can harbour all sorts of nasty bugs, so simple potability tests may be insufficient as the lab will only be checking for the microbes you've listed above. You'll also want to think about swabbing your equipment and/or packaging

Hi carine,

I assume this product  is retailed commercially.

This item is typically regarded as a highly "sensitive" product from an official POV.

Do you get the official results copied to you or just "no news" means good news?

it may be the authorities just picked you in a random sample.

Do yr current checks give you cause to investigate further ? Or the authorities?

Many haccp plans require some extended,albeit  infrequent, micro.analyses of drinking water. For example where EC are involved.
