How to determine shelf life of PET/PE bottles and Jars

Dear All,

 

My organization manufactures PET/PE bottles, jars and preforms. Can anyone advises on the recommended shelf life of the bottles/jars/preforms.

This will depend on storage conditions

 

One can assume that both PET and PT will break down faster when:

 

Exposed to drastically fluctuating temperatures

 

Exposed to direct sunlight

 

Exposed to noxious vapors that could penetrate the plastic 

 

Storage exceeding 12 months regardless of conditions
